4 YO Reading Club Classes (T4 2020)

General Information

Please select a day and start time. This time slot represents your child’s ongoing place.

Classes are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 45 minutes long costing $35.00 per class.

Term 4 2020 is 9 weeks long, commencing Monday 5 October and ending Saturday 5 December 2020.

Small class sizes of up to 5 children per class.

Due to current governmental restrictions in place, classes will be conducted online until further notice.

Required Resources

All 4 Year Old Program students are required to purchase Milo’s Birthday Surprise picture story book ($29.95) and Milo’s Alphabet Games Flashcards ($29.00) if not already purchased in the preceding year (2020 prices).

These resources need only be purchased once for the duration your child takes part in Reading Club.

All Reading Club students receive a complimentary

• Reading Club bag to bring to class every week,
• workbook  in which to keep all Reading Club activities,
• access to the Little Learners Love Literacy (LLLL) decodable readers for weekly borrowing,
• Reading Club reading folder and sticker chart,
• book mark,
• copy of laminated Heart Words to practise at home, and
• Reading Club white board and whiteboard marker.

The objectives of Reading Club’s 4 year old classes:

• identifying and reviewing letter sounds,
• picking out and manipulating sounds in words,
• Segmenting or breaking a word into it individual sounds, with focus on the initial sound of a word,
• linking letter sounds with letter of the alphabet both orally and in writing,
• reading decodable text readers, and
• exposure to Heart Words.

Classes involve:

• show and tell: promoting speaking and listening skills,
• introducing a new letter of the week, focusing on letter sound games and activities,
• music and movement,
• art and craft, promoting and interacting with the introduced letter and sound,
• Chitter Chatter Chant and Speech Sounds, and
• Goodbye song.
